Pedestrian hospitalized after being struck by vehicle outside busy Folsom shopping center

Police tape at crime scene

A pedestrian was hospitalized Monday night after being struck be a vehicle outside a busy shopping complex in Folsom, police said.

Officers were called about 9:30 p.m. by multiple witnesses to East Bidwell Street and Oak Avenue Parkway, just outside the Broadstone Village Center, said Officer Matt Stone, a spokesman for the Folsom Police Department.

A man was injured and taken to a hospital. The driver, another man, stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators, Stone said.

Officers don’t suspect any “ill-will in nature” behind the crash, such as drugs or alcohol, Stone said. It’s also unclear where the pedestrian was on the road when he was struck, Stone added.

The investigation is ongoing.
