Two El Dorado County schools searched by deputies, cleared after receiving bomb threats

Police tape at crime scene

Two El Dorado County schools have been cleared by law enforcement Friday after they received bomb threats, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded to Providence Christian School in Shingle Springs and Tahoe Prep Academy in South Lake Tahoe after they received bomb threats via email at 7:56 a.m. The threat was also sent to “numerous other email recipients,” the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office said.

Law enforcement conducted searches of the schools and determined no dangerous or explosive materials were on the campuses.

“The incident is actively being investigated and all threats of this nature are taken seriously,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post.

Both schools were cleared for staff to return.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office and Providence Christian School were not immediately available for comment Friday.
