Placer County fire officials Thursday investigated reports of smoke at the historic Auburn Courthouse, according to a social media post.

Firefighters from the city of Auburn, Cal Fire and Placer County Fire Department responded to the courthouse on the 100 block of Maple Street before 11 a.m. after callers reported smelling smoke inside the building.

As of 11:15 a.m., firefighters have found no sign of fire or smoke in the courthouse.

The courthouse, which was built in 1898, is a historic landmark and home to the Placer County Museum.
