Sacramento homeless deaths: Here is a database of the people who died in 2023

At least 227 homeless men and women died in 2023 in Sacramento County, a Sacramento Bee analysis found. That number is lower than the 250 deaths in 2022, but it will rise as more information becomes available from the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office and likely to surpass last year’s number.

DATABASE OF HOMELESS DEATHS

Use the map to see who died and where. In cases where the death location was unknown, the location where they lived was used. Click the dot to learn their name, age, race/ethnicity, and a little bit about their personalities. The same information, along with the photographs The Bee was able to gather, is available under the map as a list — which can be searched and sorted.
