An elderly man trapped in a vehicle sinking in Folsom Lake on Friday morning was rescued by nearby boaters and a deputy who jumped into the water.

Deputies responded to the report of a sinking vehicle at Brown’s Ravine on Folsom Lake, according to a report on the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. While they were on route, some boaters on the lake helped push the vehicle closer to shore.

The report said El Dorado County Sheriff Deputy Rude, who is believed to be Patrick Rude, was the first officer to arrive. Rude jumped into the water after seeing an elderly man still inside the vehicle. The man was brought to shore, where he was treated by paramedics.
