‘We are praying’: Man suffers serious injuries after falling into Northern California rice silo

An employee of a rice company was rescued Wednesday by Sutter County firefighters after falling into a farmer’s silo and was taken to a hospital.

The Sutter County, Yuba City, East Nicolaus and Pleasant Grove fire departments were called about 8:30 a.m. to the Van Dyke’s Rice Dryer Inc. property in the 4000 block of Pleasant Grove Boulevard.

The man fell into silo from its top, firefighters said in a social media post.

The man suffered moderate to major injuries and was airlifted to Sutter Roseville Medical Center, according to the Sutter County Fire Department.

“We are praying that he makes a quick recovery,” the company wrote on Facebook.

Created in 1953, Van Dyke’s Rice Dryer Inc. is a rice drying, storage and seed cleaning company, according to its LinkedIn page.
