Motorcyclist killed in overnight hit-and-run crash in downtown Sacramento

A motorcyclist was killed Sunday morning in a hit-and-run collision in downtown Sacramento.

The Sacramento Police Department responded to reports of a crash about 2:24 a.m. at Eighth and N streets, according to a news release.

Officers found the 22-year-old motorcyclist with significant injuries. Officers said the vehicle that struck him left the scene before police arrived.

The man was taken to UC Davis Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to radio dispatches reviewed by The Sacramento Bee. On Tuesday, the Coroner’s Office identified the man as Marvin Alcides Moran.

The crash is under investigation by the Police Department’s Major Collision Investigations unit.
