Fire reported at abandoned Sacramento church for third time in the past month
Sacramento firefighters extinguished flames Wednesday at a vacant building formerly home to a North Sacramento church, marking the third time a fire broke out at the abandoned property in less than a month, officials said.
Firefighters were called at 11:50 a.m. to a building in East Del Paso Heights formerly known as Victory Tabernacle Family Worship Center, 3910 Marysville Blvd., to battle flames chewing through the second floor.
An investigation to determine the fire’s cause is underway, firefighters said in a social media post.
The Sacramento Fire Department previously responded to the area Feb. 16 and last Sunday to subdue flames, said Capt. Justin Sylvia, a spokesman for the Fire Department.
During the February incident, a fire tore through the building. Investigators ruled the cause undetermined, Sylvia said.
Flames on Sunday decimated a shed detached from the main property, Sylvia said. There were no leads to determine the blaze’s origin, he said.
“Fires are very difficult to determine the cause without camera footage or reliable witnesses,” Sylvia said.
There were no injuries across the three incidents, Sylvia said.
