Over 5,000 runners will close these Sacramento-area streets for Shamrock’n race weekend
Fleet Feet’s Shamrock’n race will bring over 5,000 participants and several road closures to the Sacramento area on St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
The 5K, 10K and Leprechaun dash start between 8 a.m. and 9:10 a.m. on Saturday, followed by the half marathon at 7:35 a.m. on Sunday beginning at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento.
The race is sponsored by Fleet Feet, New Balance, Pepsi and the Triumph Cancer Foundation.
The Sacramento Police Department will organize the rolling closures, shutting down streets as late as possible and reopening as “early as safety allows,” according to the city of Sacramento. Both residents and drivers should be mindful of road closures and add extra time to morning commutes this weekend.
People living in Land Park should refer to the neighborhood zone map for times runners are expected to flood the area on Sunday for the half marathon.
