Sacramento police investigate near Fruitridge Road after vehicle hits and injures pedestrian

Officers on Friday afternoon were investigating near Fruitridge Road in Sacramento, where a vehicle struck a pedestrian who was injured and later hospitalized.

The incident was reported to police shortly after 4:30 p.m. near Fruitridge Road and Bradford Drive, an area where the city’s Colonial Village and Avondale neighborhoods meet.

Officer Anthony Gamble, a Sacramento Police Department spokesman, said the injured pedestrian was taken by ambulance to a hospital and listed in critical condition.

Gamble said the driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene to speak to investigating officers. There was no further information available.
