Black-owned Sacramento coffee shop closes less than a month after celebrating anniversary
A midtown Sacramento coffee shop closed its doors in April, less than a month after celebrating two years in business.
Drip Espresso, a Black- and women-owned business, announced the closure via social media on April 1.
“When we first opened out Drip, we intended on it being a place that felt like home ... safe, loving, and reliable for you, our people,” representatives of the shop wrote. “We could have never imagined the way you all have wrapped your arms around us with care, support, love and time.”
“For now, we must close out the physical business at this location and we’ll let you know soon what our next steps are,” they said.

On March 16, the cafe celebrated its anniversary, thanking customers via Instagram for “two years of love and support.”
A day later, Drip Espresso posted on Instagram that March 17 would be its “last day before our hiatus.” The cafe officially closed April 1.
Representatives had not responded The Sacramento Bee’s request for comment as of Monday morning.
