After holding pop-ups in Sacramento for nearly three months, two business partners plan to open a new coffee shop in the city’s Land Park neighborhood offering Vietnamese-inspired seasonal drinks.

Offbeat Coffee will open its doors at 600 Broadway this summer, co-owners Vivian Tran and Thao Nguyen said.

In late January, the pair started serving coffee drinks at pop-up locations throughout the city, including Majka Pizzeria & Bakery.

In March, they started a pop-up at a rock climbing gym Sacramento Pipeworks.

Now they’re taking the next step: launching a brick-and-mortar location.

“We always wanted to kind of open a space where we’re able to share our love for food and drinks,” Tran said.

In addition to a kitchen and dining area the 3,000-square-foot space will have a roastery room that will offer customers beans of different origins.

“We are always going to have coffee on rotation,” Tran said.

What will be on the menu at new Sacramento coffee shop?

Offbeat Coffee’s menu will offer traditional coffee options such as lattes and drip coffee, but also include Vietnamese-inspired coffee-based drinks.

“We both are Vietnamese American and we want to be able to showcase that,” Tran said.

At its pop-up locations Offbeat Coffee currently offers a drink called Saigon Cinnamon that is very similar to a latte, but includes condensed milk and cinnamon.

The drink has been very popular, Tran said.

The coffee shop also hopes to offer small bites such as pastries, at its Land Park location.

When will Offbeat Coffee be open?

The projected opening date for Offbeat Coffee is still a few months away in late summer.

When it launches, the cafe will initially be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tran said.

In the future, if the coffee shop is able gather the necessary sources, Tran said she hopes it can stay open later into the night.
