Woman killed after falling off Sacramento RT train in Rancho Cordova, spokesperson says

Police tape at crime scene

A woman died Wednesday after falling off of a Sacramento Regional Transit light rail train in Rancho Cordova.

The woman fell off while riding illegally on the coupling, the exterior connection between cars, as the train traveled near the RT platform at Mather Field and Mills Station roads, said Jessica Gonzalez, a spokeswoman for RT. No other passengers or transit employees were hurt.

RT suspended services on the Gold Line and implemented a bus bridge between the Sunrise and Watt/Manlove stations while police investigated the scene, she said.

The identity of the woman is expected to be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after relatives are notified of her death.
