Sacramento welcomes back 5 farmers markets this summer. Here’s where -- and what’s in season
Warm weather signals the return of some of Sacramento’s most popular farmers markets.
Here’s a list of the Sacramento area’s seasonal farmers markets and a couple of year-round destinations:
Seasonal Sacramento-area farmers markets
The following markets are organized by day of the week:
DOWNTOWN CERTIFIED FARMERS’ MARKET
- Where? Capitol Mall
- When? 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays
The market features fresh produce, flowers and hot food vendors, according to Downtown Sac’s website.
It runs through October.
- Where? Cesar Chavez Plaza - 910 I St., Sacramento
- When? 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays
The downtown Sacramento market features produce, hot food and handmade items, according to Downtown Sac.
“Take a long lunch break and step away from the office for a stroll through the park,” the city organization said, adding that the market also features tables and chairs, corn hole and ping pong.
Live music is available every other week. The vendors change weekly.
The market runs through September.
- Where? 6826 Hazel Ave., Orangevale
- When? 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays
In partnership with the Orangevale Chamber of Commerce, the Orangevale Farmers Market hosts Bands and Brews, a weekly concert series with beer and wine.
Guests will also find the standard farmers market items: produce, breads, dips, olive oil and seafood, according to the Orangevale Chamber of Commerce.
The market concludes for the season in October.
- Where? Arden Fair - 1689 Arden Way, Sacramento
- When? 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays
The new Arden Fair Farmers Market features over 40 vendors, from food trucks to bakeries.
The market closes for the season in November.
- Where? McClatchy Park - 3500 Fifth Ave., Sacramento
- When? 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays
Formed in 2010, Oak Park Farmer’s Market is a destination for produce and activities.
“A day at our market is filled with health and fun, whether it’s hanging out with your neighbors for a conversation and bite to eat, or joining a free yoga or cooking class,” farmers market representatives wrote.
“And, of course, we want everyone to eat their vegetables.”
The market runs through November.
