California State Fair concert canceled due to singer’s ‘unexpected illness.’ How to get refunds
A reggae pop band led by the former lead singer of UB40 has canceled its concert at the California State Fair due to “an unexpected illness.”
UB40 Featuring Ali Campbell was slated to take the Golden 1 stage on July 28., the closing day of the fair.
Campbell, who co-founded UB40 before parting ways with the band, has “unfortunately fallen ill,” fair officials said in a Tuesday news release, and canceled the band’s upcoming tour of the United States.
“Everyone who purchased tickets are automatically getting a refund,” the release said.
The fair said it would announce information about a replacement performer soon.
Who’s performing at California State Fair?
A number of big-name acts are scheduled to perform as part of the Toyota Concert Series at Cal Expo, 1600 Exposition Blvd. in Sacramento.
Here’s who is playing and when they’ll take the stage:
- Wednesday: War
- Thursday: Chris Young
- Friday: Tone Loc, C&C Music Factory and Digital Underground
- Saturday: Patti LaBelle
- Sunday: Pablo Montero, Mariachi Los Camperos, Gabriela Sepúlveda, and Mariachi Oro
- Monday: Kenny Cetera’s Chicago Experience
- Tuesday: Flo Rida
- July 24: Bush
- July 25: Lukas Nelson
- July 26: The Beach Boys
- July 27: Mickey Guyton
What are concert ticket prices at Cal Expo?
General admission to the Toyota Concert Series is included with your fair admission ticket, according to the fair’s website.
Guests can line up at the back of the stage venue starting at 5 p.m. for first-come, first-served seating in the free area behind general admission.
This seating is limited to the first 700 guests.
Reserved seats are available and start at $28.50.
