Finished with back-to-school shopping? Class is almost back in session in the Sacramento area.

Public school districts in the capital region are preparing for the start of the 2024-2025 academic year. While some students are headed into class soon, others have a little more summer to enjoy.

When is the first day of school?

Here are some key dates for parents of children attending elementary, middle and high schools in and around Sacramento:

When is the first day of school in Sacramento County?

There are eight school districts in Sacramento County serving students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

Here’s when classes begin for each district:

Start dates vary for students attending public schools in Yolo County. Here’s when kids in the following districts head back to class:
