2 bodies found in vehicle linked to missing Yuba City men. Crashed Lexus was in canal, CHP says
Authorities are investigating after two dead bodies were found inside a vehicle linked to a pair of missing men, submerged in a Northern California canal after the vehicle crashed into an orchard.
Investigators with the California Highway Patrol’s Willows office were called Wednesday to the Glenn-Colusa Canal, which runs parallel to the Sacramento River. The vehicle, a blue 2004 Lexus, was found through investigative work and “luck” by a Glenn County deputy, said Officer Robert Gardner, a spokesman for CHP Willows.
Two occupants were in a Lexus driving at a “high rate” of speed on a dirt road and attempted to overcorrect the vehicle, hit a tree in an orchard and submerged into the canal, Gardner said.
The CHP is investigating the crash, which happened near County Road 9 and Canal Road. It’s unclear when the crash happened, Gardner said.
Yuba City residents James Adams, 89, and Ronny Adams, 57, were last seen with the Lexus. However, Gardner said the men in the car have not yet been identified and it’s not clear how they died.
The Glenn County Sheriff’s Office is expected to identify the victims after their family has been notified.
The CHP issued a Silver Alert for both James and Ronny Adams, Gardner said. Both men are considered both considered at risk due to medical conditions, the Yuba City Police Department said.
Police said that the men’s phones last placed them in Glenn County on July 19.
