Vic’s Ice Cream and Cafe, a beloved Land Park establishment for 70 years, is up for sale

Vic’s Ice Cream Parlor and Cafe, beloved by the Land Park community in Sacramento, is for sale for nearly $1.6 million.

The family-owned business at 3199 Riverside Blvd. has served homemade ice cream, sundaes and sandwiches for more than 70 years. It expanded in 2013 to include a cafe next door.

According to the listing, the Rutledge family owners hope for the business to continue under new management, and most of the shop’s 20 staff members are expected to remain.

The property and business are both listed for sale at asking prices of approximately $1.3 million and $295,000, respectively. The property encompasses about 3,000 square feet. The business listing includes customer seating furniture, a kitchen facility and equipment.

An adjacent rental property at 1111 8th Ave., whose garage and driveway are available to Vic’s for storage and staff parking, was also included as an optional purchase for $390,000.

Vic’s was founded by Ash Rutledge and Vic Zito in 1947 and operated by Rutledge’s son, Craig, for decades until his death in March. The classic shop has won awards for its ice cream throughout its lifetime, including seven consecutive gold medals at the California State Fair.
