Mongolian barbecue restaurant closes in Sacramento area after nearly 15 years. Here’s why

One of the Sacramento area’s most popular shopping malls just said goodbye to a longtime tenant — and this one served food.

O Tasty Mongolian BBQ permanently closed at Westfield Galleria after nearly 15 years of business, according mall spokeswoman Nathalie Braniff.

The restaurant’s lease ended in the mall’s dining terrace at 1151 Galleria Blvd., Braniff wrote in a Monday morning email to The Sacramento Bee, but she was tight-lipped about the details.

As of Monday, it was unclear when the eatery officially closed its doors.

The mall doesn’t currently have a tenant planned for the roughly 800-square-foot space, she added.

O Tasty Mongolian BBQ opened its doors in December 2009, Braniff said.

At the Mongolian barbecue restaurant, employees typically packed white styrofoam containers with noodles, meats, vegetables and sauce.

Customers paired various-sized noodles with ingredients such as beef, chicken, broccoli and onions, according to Yelp.

O Tasty Mongolian BBQ had an average of 2.7 stars on popular review website Yelp, with a total of 79 reviews.

Locals react to Roseville eatery closure

A Reddit user recently took to social media to ask about O Tasty Mongolian BBQ’s closure.

“Does anyone know why it closed? Genuinely curious because they were busy every time I went,” Reddit user StrategicCrying wrote in a Sunday post. “Been going there since I was a kid and really enjoyed it.”

Reddit user Fair-Sky4156 said they were “bummed” to learn about the closing because it was their “favorite place to eat.”

Another Reddit user, Pantent_US7735061B2, called news of the closure “sad,” adding that they hope that the eatery isn’t gone for good.
