18-year-old motorcyclist dies in wrong-way crash with truck in Marysville, CHP says
An 18-year-old man driving an allegedly stolen motorcycle was killed Wednesday after driving the wrong way near Highway 70 and colliding into a semitruck, the California Highway Patrol said.
Officers were alerted to the incident about 11:30 a.m. A dump truck driver was headed west on Erle Road and began turning left to merge southbound Highway 70, said Officer Brian Danielson, a spokesman for the CHP’s Yuba-Sutter office.
A red off-road motorcycle drove toward the semitruck on Erle Road’s shoulder and collided into the vehicle as its rider was making a turn, Danielson said.
The motorcyclist was taken to Adventist Health and Rideout, where he was pronounced dead. The Yuba County Coroner’s Office is expected to identify him after notifying his family.
The semitruck driver did not suffer any injuries, Danielson said.
