What’s happening Labor Day weekend in Sacramento? Chalk it Up, food festival and more
Celebrating Labor Day in Sacramento? The capital city has plenty of events lined up.
The Sacramento area will be warm and sunny during the three-day holiday weekend, according to the National Weather Service, with temperatures lingering in the 90s.
It’ll be 90 degrees on Monday, Labor Day.
Here are just some of the things to do in the city for this holiday weekend:
Celebrate art at Chalk it Up!
Sacramento continues a Labor Day weekend tradition with Chalk It Up! at Fremont Park.
During the free three-day festival, artists draw chalk art murals on the park’s sidewalk. Also in store are live music, vendors and food trucks.
There will also be a beverage tent where you can get local wines, beers and cider. Proceeds from Chalk It Up support art in classrooms across the Sacramento area.
When: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 31, to Monday, Sept. 2

Stretch your legs at Labor Day Run
There’s a Labor Day Run on Saturday at Sutter’s Landing Park.
You can run or walk five kilometers or 10 kilometers, or do a half marathon.
Participants can register for the run on Eventbrite. Prices vary, depending on the run you choose.
Registration starts at $39.19 for the 5K, $46.65 for the 10K and $49.87 for the half marathon.
If you’re in the Davis area, there’s another Labor Day fun run on Monday at Central Park, at the corner of Third and C streets.
When: 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31

Explore historic Old Sacramento with a Walking Food Tour
Visit the top spots in Old Sacramento while learning about local history during the Walking Food Tour.
“Stroll along the very cobble stoned streets of historic figures such as General Sherman, Ulysses S. Grant and John Sutter while hearing about the harrowing history of the state Capital,” tour organizer SacTown Bites said.
There are five to six food-tasting stops, according to the website.
The food tour has open dates this weekend and throughout September.
Admission is $95, or $75 for children 6 to 12 years old. Kids 5 and under are free.

Feed your appetite at FoodieLand
Foodieland will return to Sacramento’s Cal Expo starting Friday.
The outdoor food festival, inspired by the night markets in Asia, will feature more than 170 vendors, according to its website.
Tickets are $7.50 per person and can be purchased online. Children under 5 years old are free.
When: 3 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, and 1 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, and Sunday, Sept. 1

Enjoy live music, food at Tejano Conjunto Festival
Downtown Sacramento is hosting a festival celebrating Tejano culture with live music, vendors and food, including Texas-style barbecue.
Tickets, which are available on Eventbrite, start at $28.52 for general admission.
