2 Babies R Us shops are opening soon in the Sacramento area. Here’s when and where
Popular brand Babies R Us is returning to the Sacramento area just in time for fall.
Kohl’s plans to open Babies R Us shops inside its stores at Elk Grove Commons and Highland Reserve Marketplace in Roseville in September, according to Meghan Bower, Kohl’s senior public relations coordinator.
The department store chain is opening a total of 200 Babies R Us shops at store locations across the nation.
“The Babies R Us experience inside Kohl’s will offer customers a curated assortment of the latest baby gear, furniture, activity, accessories and more,” Bower wrote in an email to The Sacramento Bee on Tuesday.
Those shops will be “supported by current Kohl’s associates,” she said.

What is Babies R Us at Kohl’s?
Babies R Us at Kohl’s offers shoppers “the best in baby gear, activity, bath, furniture, feeding and safety,” the company said in an August news release.
According to Kohl’s, the shops will carry a variety of popular brands, including:
- Baby gear: Baby Bjorn, Britax, Chicco, Halo, Maxi Cosi, Nanit, Safety 1st
- Activity and toys: Baby Einstein, Fisher-Price, Itzy Ritzy, Skip Hop, Lamaze
- Bath: Aveeno, Burt’s Bees, Frida Baby, Hello Bello, Honest, Johnson’s Baby
- Furniture: DaVinci, Storkcraft, Graco, Delta Children, Sealy
- Accessories: Baby Brezza, Boon, Dr. Brown’s, EZPZ, Itzy Ritzy, MAM, Munchkin, Oxo Tot, Philips Avent
The new Babies R Us shops inside Kohl’s range in size from 750 square feet to 2,500 square feet, The Sacramento Bee reported in May.
Baby apparel can be found “directly adjacent” to each Babies R Us shop, the company said, adding that it’s expanding its “baby and kids offerings with new brands such as Nike Baby Essentials, Huggies and Just Born.”
Customers can also find Motherhood, Kohl’s “new, exclusive in-store maternity brand,” next to Babies R Us in-store locations, according to the release.
Offerings for expecting moms include dresses, tops, bottoms, sleepwear, and intimates.
In addition to browsing in-store, customers can shop for “an expanded assortment of baby products on Kohls.com” and use the Babies R Us at Kohl’s registry to build and share gift lists, the company said.
When are Sacramento-area shops opening?
According to Bowers, a Babies R Us shop will open inside Kohl’s, 10375 Fairway Drive in Roseville, on Sept. 13.
Babies R Us will open at Kohl’s, 9650 Bruceville Road in Elk Grove, on Sept. 20.
Where are other locations in California?
A total of 30 Babies R Us at Kohl’s locations are opening in California in 2024, according to the company’s website.
Those include Babies R Us shops inside three Kohl’s stores in the Modesto area.
Babies R Us shops opened inside Kohl’s locations in Riverbank and Turlock in August, Bower said, and a Modesto location is set to open on Sept. 13.
What happened to baby gear brand?
In March, Kohl’s announced that it was partnering with WHP Global, which owns the Babies R Us brand.
The brand’s former parent company, Toys ‘R’ Us, filed bankruptcy in 2018, and WHP Global acquired Toys R Us and Babies R Us in 2021.
The Toys R Us brand relaunched in 2022 with shops inside Macy’s department stores, The Bee previously reported.
