Sacramento man to test his trivia knowledge on ‘Jeopardy!’ When to watch him compete
Mark Palmere has watched “Jeopardy!” ever since he was a kid. It was something his family always did growing up.
As he got older, Palmere grew a knack for trivia. This week, 33-year-old will test his trivia knowledge on the “Jeopardy!” main stage.
Palmere will compete against two other contestants at 7 p.m. Thursday on ABC10.
“I’ve always had an interest in trivia and in knowing things,” Palmere said. “I always thought it was something that maybe I’d be decent at because I like doing trivia and have a mind for memorizing useless facts.”
Going on “Jeopardy!” has been “quite surreal,” Palmere said. After applying to be on the show multiple times for about 10 years, he was called to participate on the show this year.
“It was really exciting. Definitely nerve-racking,” Palmere said. “It didn’t really hit me until I was actually there.”
Originally from Davis, Palmere has lived in Sacramento for the last eight years. He currently resides in Midtown.
Palmere works as an energy analyst for the California Energy Commission. For his job, Palmere conducts solar energy forecasts.
Palmere will see his performance for the first time Thursday night after having to keep his appearance a secret since the show’s taping in May. He said he’s looking forward to watching it back. To celebrate, he’s hosting a watch party with his friends and family.
“I’m really excited about finally getting to watch and see how it looks on TV,” Palmere said. “It’s different from my experience actually taping the show, which was super fun, but there was also a little bit of nerves but honestly not as much as I expected.”
