Driver killed after SUV strikes pole on Highway 65 near Lincoln in Placer County, the CHP says

A motorist was killed Monday after a single collision with a utility pole on a stretch of Placer County freeway near Lincoln, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers from the CHP’s Auburn office were called to the crash on Highway 65 and Riosa Road in Sheridan at 8:52 a.m., the CHP said via social media.

According to CHP incident logs, a motorist in a white GMC Yukon struck a pole. Witnesses at the scene told the CHP that the driver may have suffered a medical emergency, though further details from the CHP were not shared.

The CHP was expected to investigate the cause of the crash; the identity of the driver was expected to be released by the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.
