SMUD website glitch shows outage of 23,000 people who never lost electricity

A glitch on Sacramento Municipal Utility District’s outage information webpage erroneously indicated that about 23,000 people in the Rio Linda and North Natomas were without power on Thursday afternoon, according to a SMUD spokesperson.

The Sacramento Bee earlier reported the outage because of incorrect information on SMUD’s website.

SMUD reported fixing the “momentarily glitch” by 2:50 p.m., saying no customers in that area were without electricity.

Per the glitch, earlier in the day, the outage began at 1:13 p.m. and was affecting 23,396 customers.
