Pedestrian fatality

A collision killed a pedestrian in Elk Grove late Monday and closed a roadway for hours as police investigated the fatal incident.

The pedestrian, a 55-year-old man, was walking north just after 10 p.m. Monday in the roadway along West Stockton Boulevard near the intersection of Whitelock Parkway when he was struck by a car also traveling north, Elk Grove police said in a statement.

Officers arrived to find the man with critical injuries from the collision. The man died of his injuries at the scene, police officials said. Sacramento County Coroner’s officials have not yet identified the man pending notification of his family.
