3 pedestrians, including 2 children, injured in vehicle crashes in Arden Arcade, CHP says
Three pedestrians, including two children, were injured Thursday morning after they were struck by vehicles at Arden Arcade intersections, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The first pedestrian-involved crash was reported about 6:16 a.m. on Watt Avenue at Kings Way. A man in his 30s was driving a truck south on Watt Avenue and failed to stop at a red light, said Officer Justin Fetterly, a spokesman for the CHP North Sacramento office.
The truck struck a man, also in his 30s, heading east on a scooter on Kings Way, Fetterly said. The man riding the scooter suffered major injuries in the crash and was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
Fetterly said officers investigating at the scene did not suspect the truck driver was driving under the influence or alcohol or drugs. The crash remains under investigation, the CHP did not indicate any arrests had been made.
The second pedestrian-involved crash was reported shortly after 8 a.m. on Arden Way near Markston Road.
A vehicle stopped in the right westbound lane on Arden Way for two children crossing the street and heading south from Markston Road, the CHP spokesman said.
Fetterly said a woman in her 30s driving another vehicle heading west on Arden and approaching Markston didn’t see the children crossing the street, and her vehicle struck the two children.
Both children were injured and taken by ambulance to a hospital. CHP online dispatch reports indicated the pedestrian crash on Arden Way resulted in minor injuries. No further information was available.
