Looking for work in Sacramento County?

California state officials are hiring full-time employees to fill positions in the capital region — from health care to transportation.

Although some positions require employees to work in the office, others offer remote work and hybrid schedules.

State jobs are known for offering competitive benefits and enrollment in the nation’s largest state public pension plan. Many of the following jobs have specific requirements, which are linked.

These were some of the latest state jobs openings available in Sacramento County on the CalCareers website as of Thursday, Nov. 14:

Information officer | Permanent, full time

  • Department: State Treasurer’s Office

  • Salary: $5,855 to $7,327 per month

The information officer position generates positive news and content, and prepares a variety of materials including press releases, speeches, talking points, reports, multimedia and social media content.

The position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule with some remote work.

Aerial surveys transportation surveyor | Permanent, full time

  • Department: Transportation

  • Salary: $6,148 to $11,798 per month

The aerial surveys transporation surveyor engages in the production of quality aerial mapping products and provides support for aerial mapping activities under supervision and general direction of a branch chief in the Office of Photogrammetry and Preliminary Investigations.

The position is eligible for telework.

Fiscal analyst | Permanent, full time

  • Department: State Controller’s Office

  • Salary: $6,146 to $7,698 per month

The fiscal analyst performs complex analytical duties pertaining to fund reconciliations and preparation of payment spreadsheets.

These include reviewing and analyzing the accuracy of data contained in various payment reports, and reviewing and processing payments to local government entities.

The financial analyst is also tasked with preparing forms for annual data submission as well as analyzing, verifying and reviewing data collected from local governments.

The position offers a hybrid schedule.

Child development consultant | Permanent, full time

  • Department: Social Services

  • Salary: $7,997 to $10,010 per month

The child development consultant works cooperatively and collaboratively with various early child care and development programs funded by federal and/or state funds.

The consultant serves in an educational leadership role for promoting quality child development program implementation at the local, regional, and state levels.

The position offers a hybrid schedule with telework.

Education administrator I | Permanent, full time

  • Department: First 5 California

  • Salary: $9,153 to $11,464 per month

The education administrator is responsible for directing and supporting work of First 5 California’s Early Learning Programs and Partnerships Office and Prevention, Equity and Opportunity Office.

That includes the direct supervision of three to six consultants and other staff responsible for developing systems, infrastructure and implementing programs related to early learning and care to meet agency goals.

The position is hybrid and eligible for telework up to four days a week. The education administrator is required to report to the office one day a week or as needed.

Information technology associate | Limited, full time

  • Department: Motor Vehicles

  • Salary: $4,790 to $8,742 per month

The information technology associate schedules, executes, monitors and ensures successful completion of the state Departmento Motor Vehicles’ mission-critical production batch processes.

The IT associate also utilized mainframe legacy software.

This is a limited-term position that may be extended to 24 months and could potentially become permanent.

Nurse surveyor | Permanent, full time

  • Department: Public Health

  • Salary: $7,214 to $9,473 per month

The nurse surveyor conducts inspections, investigations, surveys, and evaluations of health facilities for conformity with licensing and certification requirements of the California Department of Public Health and for compliance with state and federal laws, rules and regulations relating to medical care.

The position is not eligible for telework.

Legal secretary | Permanent, full time

  • Department: Justice

  • Salary: $4,244 to $5,581 per month

The legal secretary will perform duties for multiple attorneys and professional staff in the Sacramento Office of the Attorney General.

Duties can include typing, editing, storing, retrieving, printing, processing and electronically sending legal documents and pleadings.

This position offers a hybrid schedule after a six-month probationary period.

Fire/emergency medical services dispatcher | Limited, full time

  • Department: Forestry and Fire Protection

  • Salary: $4,598 to $7,163 per month

The fire/emergency medical services dispatcher dispatches mobile units such as fire and rescue equipment, administrative and support personnel or other equipment via radio or telephone or computerized equipment, to specific points.

The dispatcher will operate radio transmitting and receiving equipment and 911 telephone equipment, in addition to receiving telephone calls requesting emergency or other assistance and recording all vital information regarding those calls.

This is an in-office position that is limited to 24 months with the possibility of becoming permanent.

Clinical social worker | Permanent, full time

  • Departments: Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Correctional Health Care Services

  • Salary: $8,425 to $10,261 per month

The clinical social worker will conduct assessments for inmates within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. They provide group therapy, collateral conferences and document and evaluate patients’ progress in treatment.

This job is eligible for hybrid telework.
