Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man in a deadly Wednesday morning shooting.

Billy Polk, 31, faces a murder charge and a Friday arraignment in Sacramento Superior Court after the gun killing at a home in the 8100 block of Judette Avenue in south Sacramento, sheriff’s officials said Thursday.

Deputies arrived on Judette about 10:15 a.m., Wednesday, to find a man with several gunshot wounds. He did not survive. Investigators later learned the man and Polk had had an argument before the shots were fired, said sheriff’s officials.

The man deputies later identified as Polk fled after the shooting, but deputies quickly took him into custody. Sheriff’s officials on Thursday said a caller had told dispatchers of a man they saw run from the area moments before he was captured.

Polk is being held without bail at Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of murder ahead of his Friday court date.
