A teenage girl was struck by a car and seriously injured Monday morning while crossing a busy Foothill Farms roadway.

The girl was struck about 8 a.m. Monday on Hillsdale Boulevard near Greenholme Drive by a car traveling south on Hillsdale, according to California Highway Patrol officials.

The girl suffered major injuries in the collision and was taken to a hospital. Her condition was not known Tuesday. The driver stayed on scene and cooperated with patrol officers. No arrests were made.

CHP officials say the teen was trying to cross a busy Hillsdale Monday morning when she was struck.

Witnesses said “the teen just ran out across the street,” said Officer Justin Fetterly, a spokesman in the patrol’s North Sacramento office, said Tuesday. “It’s heavily trafficked. A lot of people come down Hillsdale.”

There is no crosswalk on that stretch of the boulevard, Fetterly said. The nearest is south of Greenholme at the intersection of Hillsdale and Palm Avenue.
