Juvenile passenger dies, others injured in I-5 spinout crash in Sacramento, CHP says

Roadway fatality

Amid wet traffic conditions Saturday morning in Sacramento, a crash on Interstate 5 left a child dead and two others injured, authorities said.

The single-vehicle collision involved a silver Lexus that spun out into a tree near the West El Camino exit on I-5 around 10:15 a.m., California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Tyson Shumway of the CHP’s North Sacramento office said.

The driver of the Lexus, a man, was driving with three juvenile passengers in the car, Shumway said. The juvenile was pronounced at the hospital, and two other people involved in the crash were transported to hospital as well, he said.
