Fox40 changes lineup as meteorologist, reporter Dennis Shanahan assumes anchor desk
Fox40’s lineup changed over the past week as a well-known news personality assumed the anchor desk while a reporter and anchor left.
Veteran meteorologist Dennis Shanahan said he will anchor the weekend newscast after reporter and anchor Zach Boetto left the television station. Shanahan has described storm coverage as a passion and is often the first to volunteer for weather events, according to his bio.
Shanahan, who joined the channel in 2008, said the management asked him to anchor the weekend newscast as they search for another weekend meteorologist.
“This role takes me back to my early days in news when I was an anchor in Eureka and a fill-in anchor several years ago here in Sacramento,” he said in a Facebook post last week.
Boetto said online he completed his three-year contract at the station and is looking for new work.
