Bicyclist killed in collision involving semitruck in Sacramento County, CHP says

A bicyclist involved in a collision with a semitruck died Thursday in North Highlands, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers were alerted about 2:20 p.m. to a collision between a semitruck and a woman on Roseville Road, according to the CHP’s online log.

A semitruck driving north on Roseville Road attempted to make a right turn onto Longview Drive, said Officer Justin Fetterly, a spokesperson for the CHP’s North Sacramento office.

A woman in her 50s attempted to pass the semitruck on the right and the driver hit the woman, Fetterly said.

The woman died at the scene. She will be identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office when her family has been notified.

Fetterly said a preliminary investigation does not show the motorist was driving intoxicated.
