California state officials are looking to hire employees for full-time positions throughout the capital region.

California state jobs offer benefits and enrollment into the largest public pension plan in the county.

There were a total of 2,903 job openings in the state, including more than 800 opportunities in Sacramento County, on the CalCareers website as of Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Education program consultant | Permanent, full time

• Department: Education
• Salary: $7,997 to $10,010 per month

The education program consultant works on various infant and preschool projects with a particular focus on supporting early childhood inclusive programs for children with disabilities.

Education program consultants have the opportunity to delve into areas such as research, program development and evaluation for early childhood special education.

Duties include monitoring, overseeing and providing guidance for contracts and grants with agencies and organizations.

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. That means applicants can work some days in-office and others at home.

Public information officer I | Permanent, full time

The information officer is responsible for significant components of agency-level communications work.

The coordinator is responsible for assisting program, academy, region and unit training officers in course selection, scheduling, development, student allocations and selections for national and state level aviation courses.

This is an in-office position.

The custodian is responsible for the daily cleaning of an assigned building, office or common areas by applying sustainable work practices.

This is an in-office position that receives night shift differential pay.

Driver safety hearing officer | Permanent, full time

The driver safety hearing officer reviews financial responsibility and driver records.

The officer also conducts interviews, reexaminations and hearings relative to the modification, reinstatement, granting or withdrawal of driving privileges in cases involving drivers with physical or mental problems; negligent vehicle operation; fraudulent activity or driving under the influence of intoxicants.

This position is located at the Sacramento Driver Safety Office. However, part-time telework is available with California residency.

The chief of strategic communications is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive statewide communications plan, policies and approaches for the implementation of the nation’s first high-speed rail system.

Responsibilities include the oversight of all communications engagement activities and objectives of the California High Speed Rail Authority to staff as well as the media, public and stakeholders throughout the state of California.

The strategic communications chief works primarily in the office, but limited telework may be available for California residents based on the requirements of the position.

Clinical telesocial worker | Permanent, full time

• Department: Correctional Health Care Services
• Salary: $8,425 to $10,261 per month

The clinical telesocial worker conducts assessments of inmates within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation via videoconferencing.

The clinical telesocial worker then summarizes case information to use in diagnosis, treatment and dispositional release, in addition to diagnosing and collaborating in the formulation of a diagnosis and developing monitoring and modifying treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team.

Other duties include providing assessments, group therapy and collateral conferences, and documenting and evaluating patients’ progress in treatment.

This is an in-office position at the Elk Grove headquarters.
