Sacramento homeless deaths: Here is a database of the people who died in 2024

At least 162 homeless men and women died in 2024 in Sacramento County, a Sacramento Bee analysis found. The number will rise as the Sacramento Coroner’s Office completes additional death investigations in the coming months. In 2023, 325 homeless people died in Sacramento, according to data from the coroner’s office and compiled by The Bee. It’s the first year the total has topped 300.

Use the map to see who died and where. In cases where the death location was unknown, the location where they lived was used. Click the dot to learn their name, age, race/ethnicity and other information. The same information, along with the photographs The Bee was able to gather, is available under the map as a list — which can be searched and sorted.
