See the fanciful floats of the City of Trees parade as Sacramento celebrates Mardi Gras

Sacramento broke out the beads for a Mardi Gras Festival on Saturday night, with creative floats from the City of Trees parade illuminating Capitol Mall.
The parade, in its fourth year, featured marching bands, mermaids, pirates, and a dragon. Event organizers estimated it involved more than 1,000 performers and over 50 groups.
“It’s a blast of a parade” said pirate Ann Ramirez, who has participated in the event with her husband Damien since its first year. “It’s a great vibe — amazing performers. We are so happy to be a part of it.”
