Pedestrian struck by car on Marconi near Walnut in Carmichael dies at hospital

A pedestrian struck by a car Wednesday in Carmichael later died at a hospital.

The pedestrian was struck in the 4900 block of Marconi Avenue near Walnut Avenue about 6:35 p.m., according to Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District officials.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal collision. CHP officials said the pedestrian, identified as a woman in her 40s, was crossing south on Marconi across the westbound lanes when she was struck by the driver.

The pedestrian suffered severe injuries in the collision and was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead by medical personnel, the CHP said.
