Blue Angels jets will soar again at California Capital Airshow in Sacramento. What to know
Military jets will soar in the sky above Sacramento this weekend when the annual California Capital Airshow returns.
The air show will feature aerial stunts by groups such as the U.S. Navy’s famed Blue Angels as well as on-the-ground displays.
Here’s what is in store for 2025:
When is the Sacramento air show? Where?
The California Capital Airshow takes place Saturday and Sunday at Mather Airport, 10425 Norden Ave. in Mather.
Gates will open at 9 a.m. and flying demonstrations begin at noon on both days. Parking is free with the purchase of an admission ticket.
The event ends at 5 p.m. each day.
Who will perform at California Capital Airshow?
In 2025, California Capital Airshow performers include the U.S. Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II, U.S. Air Force F-16 Viper and C-17 Globemaster III demonstration teams.
For the first time since 2019, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels are scheduled to appear at the Sacramento airshow.
The world-renowned aerial acrobatics team performs at least 60 shows annually at 30 locations throughout the United States and Canada.
“With the Blue Angels headlining for the first time since 2019, this year’s Airshow promises to be an unforgettable experience for aviation fans of all ages,” the California Capital Airshow said on its website.
Tucker’s Air Patrol and vintage World War II aircraft will also be on hand at the two-day event.
“Our team has worked tirelessly to create an event that showcases the awe-inspiring power of flight, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone for a weekend with amazing performances and family fun,” Darcy Brewer, executive director of California Capital Airshow, said on the website.
What’s new this year at Mather Airport?
According to the California Capital Airshow, there are some changes to this year’s event.
The 2025 air show will serve as the keystone event of Navy Week, which coincides with the Navy’s 250th anniversary.
The celebration began on Monday, March 17, and will end on Sunday, March 23.
Sacramento is one of 15 host cities for events held nationally.
The California Capital Airshow will provide an exclusive event entrance for attendees who purchased “upgraded tickets,” according to the website.
Guests will have access to food trucks, the Capital Club, Flight Line Club and Mather Club, receiving complementary beverages, food and “prime views of the aerial performances,” the air show said.
How can I get tickets?
You can only get tickets to the California Capital Airshow online. There won’t be any sold at the gate, the air show said.
General admission tickets for Saturday were sold out as of Friday, the air show announced on its Facebook page.
“We have reached capacity for Saturday. Moving forward, we will only be selling Sunday-specific GA tickets,” the Facebook post read. “No previous purchases will be affected. We want all of our guests to have an incredible experience!”
Ticket prices were not available via the website as of Friday.
