Police tape blocks entrance to a convenience store in San Luis Obispo County.

Authorities are investigating Monday after an Oroville police officer shot and wounded an armed man late Sunday.

The shooting happened just after 11:30 p.m. in the 2400 block of Oro Bangor Highway, Oroville Police Department officials said in a statement Monday. Officers were called to what officials described as a disturbance involving a firearm.

An officer opened fire shortly after arriving on scene and officers tended to the man until emergency responders took him to a local hospital to be treated for his wounds. No officers were hurt.

Butte County Officer-Involved Shooting Protocol Team is investigating the shooting, said Oroville Police Department officials.
