Somebody has been setting trees ablaze in Carmichael and now Metro Fire investigators are on the case.

Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District officials suspect someone has been deliberately igniting ornamental trees and plants after weeks of numerous reports of suspicious fires across Carmichael, Metro Fire officials said in a Monday news release.

Ornamental trees are small, flowering trees such as dogwood, Japanese maple and cherry plum.

The department’s arson team has been poring over the incidents to glean more clues, but Metro Fire officials say their probe is in its early stages.

Metro Fire is asking for the public’s help. Anyone with information or who has seen suspicious activity can call Metro Fire’s arson tip line at 916-859-3775.
