This real estate agent sold houses to over 80 Sacramento Kings players. What do they want?

Matthew Hindy has sold Sacramento area homes to roughly 80 Sacramento Kings players, and is now starting to sell to A’s players as well.

The Athletics relocated to West Sacramento’s Sutter Health Park for what’s planned as a three season residence before the team moves to its permanent home city of Las Vegas. Hindy said he has helped one player buy a home and four more find rental properties.

Hindy’s involvement with the Kings players entails both helping new players find homes in the area as well as helping traded players sell their homes and find a home in their new cities.

The homes that Hindy sells to these athletes usually range in price from $1 million to $4 million. While he was willing to talk in generalities about his work, he said that he could not provide specific locations of homes to protect his clients’ privacy. You can follow what Hindy does share about clients via his Instagram account under the name @mattyfuegggo.

Here is an interview with The Sacramento Bee in April 2025 about his work helping the region’s professional athletes find a local home. The interview has been edited for brevity.

Q: How did you get so many athlete clients?

A: “The Kings organization reached out to me, sat me down and talked about what they’re looking for. In 2017 they sat me down, and it was a time when we had free agency and also it was the draft season. They said, ‘we wanna start sending you the athletes that come in.’ ... They sent me five players incoming from other teams and from the draft. From there it was a domino effect.“

Q: Where are players often looking to live?

A: “It’s all four counties — Yolo, Placer, Sacramento and El Dorado ... We had a handful that wanted to be close to the arenas where the A’s and Kings play.“

Q: What are they looking for?

“They want newer (construction), higher ceilings, something that has a pool, something that has enough space, that has enough privacy. Landscaping that blocks neighbors’ views. Clean, chic. Every athlete is so different and usually the significant other is the decision maker.”

Q: What are some of the athletes you’ve worked with recently?

A: “(Former Kings player) Harrison Barnes recently sold in the Arden Oaks area. (Former Kings player) Jordan McLaughlin. Working on (Kings player) Jae Crowder, moving him out of his house.”

Q: Do you offer anything else besides real estate?

A: “It’s a one stop shop. We help them get furniture, a car, mobile detailing ... I’m usually the first person they meet outside of the organization. Chefs, party planners, whatever they need, they call me for everything.”

Q: Did you grow up in Sacramento?

A: “Yes, I went to Jesuit High School and San Jose State. It is really a dream come true. We didn’t have the privilege to go to a lot of games (as a kid). My dad took me to one game upper level, the very last row, I couldn’t even see what was going on. Now I’m rubbing elbows with the owner of the Kings and have so many perks. It’s truly a blessing.”
