Sacramento UFC fighter arrested, accused of sexual assault of a minor
A Sacramento-based UFC fighter was arrested Saturday in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a minor.
Ahmad Hassanzada, a 28-year-old former Contender Series winner, is facing two felony charges, including lewd acts with a child under 14 and lewd acts on a child 14 or 15 years old where the defendant is 10 years older than the victim, according to Sacramento County Mail Jail logs.
Hassanzada’s bail was set at $400,000 and his arraignment was scheduled Tuesday in Sacramento Superior Court, according to jail records.
Hassanzada is no longer scheduled to make his Octagon debut this weekend at UFC Kansas City, according to an MMAmania article published on Friday.
The Team Alpha Male fighter was scheduled to fight against Mitch Ramirez on Saturday, according to an Instagram post made in February.
Sacramento police offered few details about the case, citing its “sensitive nature” but a department spokesperson said that “the warrant stems from an investigation by our department beginning early last year.”
