Motorcyclist dies from injuries suffered in Elk Grove collision with SUV

A motorcyclist died Wednesday at a hospital after a collision in Elk Grove, authorities said.

The fatal wreck in the 8100 block of Sheldon Road at Lewis Steen Road happened about 3:50 p.m. Elk Grove police say a sport utility vehicle turning left on Sheldon from its designated lane collided with the motorcycle as it headed east on Lewis Steen. The motorcyclist, 23, was gravely injured in the collision, Elk Grove Police Department said in a statement.

The motorcyclist was treated at the scene by medical personnel but later died at a hospital.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has not yet identified the rider.

The driver of the sport utility vehicle and a passenger were not hurt in the collision and were cooperating with an investigation into the wreck, police officials said.
