Peet’s Coffee just poured its last cup at Sacramento-area spot. When and where
A Sacramento-area Peet’s Coffee location recently brewed its last cup of java.
The Roseville coffee shop shut its doors on Sunday, May 4, according to previous reporting from the Sacramento Business Journal.
Here’s what to know:
What is Peet’s Coffee?
Alfred Peet started Peet’s Coffee in Berkeley in 1966.
The Bay Area-based coffee shop chain now operates approximately 200 locations, with 168 cafes in California alone, according to the Peet’s Coffee website.
Where did Peet’s Coffee close in Sacramento area?
Peet’s Coffee closed at 731 Pleasant Grove Blvd., Suite 185, in Roseville.
The coffee shop was in the Nugget Plaza shopping center, a 140,000-square-foot commercial development near the intersection of Pleasant Grove Boulevard and Fairway Drive, according to property owner Engstrom Properties.
The former Peet’s Coffee space is near Golden Koi Buffet, Lash Lounge and Huntington Learning Center.
Why did Roseville coffee shop close?
Although Peet’s Coffee didn’t release an official reason for the Roseville coffee shop’s closure, the coffee shop chain said it’s always looking for ways it improve across all aspects of the business.
That includes closing stores, according to Carrie Crespo, media strategist at Peet’s Coffee.
“As communities change over time, we may also need to adjust our local footprint in order to adjust with this change,” Crespo wrote in an email. “While this location may be closing, we are always interested in expanding to new locations and may be able to be a part of your local community once again.”
Crespo said that all employees at the recently closed Peet’s Coffee location were offered positions at neighboring stores, although she did not confirm how many workers the coffee shop employed.
News of the closure comes about a year after rumors that a separate Sacramento-area Peet’s Coffee was slated to close.
Peet’s, 1050 20th St., Suite 190, in midtown Sacramento appeared slated for closure in June 2024 after property owners listed the retail space housing the coffee shop as available to rent.
However, a Peet’s Coffee spokewoman told The Sacramento Bee at the time that the company had “no plans to move or close the store.”
The midtown Sacramento location remained open as of Monday, May 12.
What’s on the menu? What are drink prices?
Peet’s Coffee locations sell a variety of drinks including lattes, seasonal coffee and hot teas.
Food offerings on the menu include scones, banana nut bread, roasted tomato focaccia and chocolate chip cookies.
Prices for drinks range from $3.35 to $6.95 with additional charges for alternative milks or extra flavors.
Food costs $2.95 to $6.75.
