Pedestrian killed in collision on Interstate 5 in Elk Grove

A pedestrian was struck and killed while walking along Interstate 5 in Elk Grove early Tuesday, according to California Highway Patrol officials.

The collision happened about 1:15 a.m. on southbound I-5 just north of the Elk Grove Boulevard exit.

The driver of a Toyota Tundra struck the pedestrian, who died at the scene, according to the highway patrol.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office was expected to identify the victim, who was described as a 25-year-old man, once relatives are notified.
