Sacramento County to repave roads, improve access at this regional park
Ancil Hoffman Park in Carmichael will close for up to two months starting Wednesday as Sacramento County begins repairs aimed at improving accessibility and infrastructure, officials said.
The 395-acre park, located at 6700 Tarshes Drive along the American River, will undergo road and parking lot repaving to meet state and federal accessibility standards, the county said in a news release.
Crews will also install planting basins with root barriers to prevent future pavement damage. Native shade trees will be added to enhance the park’s environment and sustainability.
“This closure may be an inconvenience to residents who love Ancil Hoffman Park, but these much-needed updates are essential for long-term access and safety,” said Liz Bellas, director of Sacramento County Regional Parks.
Although the park will be closed, the adjacent Ancil Hoffman Golf Course will remain open. Events at Effie Yeaw Nature Center, including NatureFest on June 8, will proceed as scheduled.
County officials urge visitors to use caution when driving and parking near the golf course and Nature Center due to limited parking availability.
Full vehicle access to the park is expected to resume by July, once repaving is complete, the county said.
