Woman pinned by own car dies in Pocket neighborhood, Sacramento police say

Pedestrian fatality

A 36-year-old woman died in the parking lot of a shopping center in Sacramento’s Pocket neighborhood Tuesday after she was pinned between her car and another vehicle.

The fatal incident happened just before 6 p.m. outside a Bel Air supermarket in the 7400 block of Rush River Drive, said Sacramento Police Department officials. Officers called to the woman trapped between the vehicles dispatched Sacramento Fire Department personnel, who tended to the woman and later pronounced her dead from her injuries.

Two children inside the woman’s vehicle were not injured, Sacramento police officials said. It was not yet known whether mechanical failure or other factors led to the incident.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as Linda Tracy, 36, of Sacramento.

The Police Department’s major collision and crime scene investigators were probing the incident and interviewed witnesses Tuesday, but department officials were asking for witnesses to call dispatchers at 916-808-5471 with any additional information.
