Feather Alert canceled in Sacramento area after Indigenous woman is found safe

Missing person found

Authorities on Friday canceled a Feather Alert issued in Sacramento and Placer counties for a woman who went missing earlier in the week.

The California Highway Patrol issued the alert Thursday morning for a 33-year-old woman who had last been seen Tuesday morning in Lincoln.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office in a social media post Saturday morning said she had been found safe.

Feather Alerts are dedicated emergency notifications for missing Indigenous people introduced in 2022. The advisory can only be activated under specific circumstances, specifically when an Indigenous person is in danger under “unexplainable or suspicious circumstances,” according to CHP.
