Woman dies, two passengers hurt after two-car crash in Sacramento County
A woman died Sunday after a driver ran a red light and collided with her vehicle in the Rosemont area of Sacramento County, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash occurred about 5:50 p.m. at the intersection of South Watt Avenue and Kiefer Boulevard. A man driving a Lexus sedan south on Watt Avenue entered the intersection against a red light and struck an Infiniti sedan driving eastbound on Kiefer, according to Officer Trent Senter, a CHP East Sacramento office spokesperson.
The woman driving the Infiniti was taken to UC Davis Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 6:30 p.m. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified her as Rayanna Lynne Diaz, 28, of Sacramento.
A man riding in the Infiniti suffered “moderate injuries,” and a child riding in the car suffered minor injuries, Senter said. The Lexus driver was not injured.
CHP investigators determined that neither alcohol nor drugs were factors in the collision.
