Vietnamese cafe with salted coffee and avocado milk tea opens in Sacramento
Sacramento’s coffee scene just got a bold new addition.
Tram Cream Coffee, a fast-growing Vietnamese cafe chain, celebrated the grand opening of its first Sacramento location over the weekend.
The new shop is the company’s sixth in California and first outside the Bay Area.
“We’re proud to bring Tram Cream Coffee to Sacramento, a city with one of the fastest-growing economies in Northern California,” Evan Huynh and Trung Lam, co-owners of the new coffee shop, wrote in an email to the Sacramento Bee.
“While boba and tea shops continue to pop up across the region, our cream coffee stands out—not just for its distinctive flavor, but also for its exceptional quality. We truly believe Sacramento residents will embrace something new, bold and delicious.”
Where is it located in Sacramento?
Tram Cream Coffee opened at 6829 Stockton Blvd. Suite 395 in Sacramento at the Stockton Square shopping center off 65th Street.
The cafe is near a Fortune School and a Kumon Math and Reading Center of Sacramento.
What’s on the menu?
According to its website, Tram Cream Coffee aims to honor traditional Vietnamese brewing methods, including the phin filter technique — a slow-drip process that the company describes as “soulful” and “deliberate.”
The method, once common in Vietnam, is now rarely used in modern coffee shops, the company says.
The Tram Cream Coffee menu features several drinks made through this method that involves placing ground coffee in a “phin,” a small perforated metal filter and allowing hot water to slowly drip to create a strong coffee.
For customers looking to try the traditional phin-filtered coffee with a twist, they have the option to order an Egg Coffee that mixes condensed milk, heavy cream, coffee jelly and Tram’s Egg Cream.
Other drinks include salted cream coffee, egg cacao, coconut coffee and Vietnamese white coffee.
In addition to the phin-filtered coffee, the cafe sells a variety of fruit teas including lychee tea, strawberry tea and peach orange tea.
On the menu, customers can also order milk teas including avocado milk tea and the house special milk tea made with honey boba, grass jelly and coffee jelly.
Other items on the menu include smoothies, matcha lattes and food such as Banh Mi Bo Kho, beef stew and ube coconut cookies.
What are food and drink prices?
The menu prices for drinks depends on size and kind of drink order. For coffee and lattes there are only two sizes, a small at 500 milliliters and a large at 700 milliliters. Prices can range from $4.50 to $8.75.
Additional toppings for drinks including egg cream, coffee jelly and cheese foam are available and range in price from $.50 to $1.75.
The price for fruit teas, milk teas and smoothies can range from $5.95 to $8.95.
Food prices at Tram Cream Coffee can range depending on whether a customer orders from the food menu that includes beef stew and corn sticky rice or from the pre-pack snack menu. From the food menu prices range from $5.95 to $14.75. For those ordering from the snack menu price go from $3.50 to $38.
